Within our farm-based therapeutic animal program, youth are supported by staff. Getting to know each youth’s individualized needs is an essential process on our farm. Our staff and animals create an enriching and educational environment to build self-esteem, unleash creativity and learn life skills and social skills through a variety of activities and projects.
This session can be individualized to each client's abilities, allowing us to meet them where they are at in the moment. We talk about differences and similarities between people and animals. Activities may include feeding, petting/grooming our animals and checking for eggs. Artists may want to draw animals, writing a story or poetry. Others may want to learn how to cultivate a variety of fruits and vegetables in our garden. Musicians can play their favorite song surrounded by our animals.
A benefit of group therapy allows youths to socialize within their peer age range, participating in a variety of activities. Learning how to work together doing farm chores, working on projects they can take home or keep on the farm, and learning how to plant, water, harvest the farms garden. We learn about nature and wildlife around us, what breeds of animals are on the farm including, caring for and their nutrition. Engaging in conversations about similarities with people and all animals.
Self pay only we do not accept insurance. We offer scholarship applications for those in need of financial assistance.
